Do you take on small jobs?

Yes. A single failed sidewalk panel, a small landing, a short section of curb - those are legitimate projects. We will also tell you when a small repair is genuinely all you need.

Do you work with general contractors and property managers?

Regularly. We work as a concrete subcontractor on ground-up and tenant improvement projects, and directly for facility managers on maintenance, ADA and replacement work.

How thick should my slab be?

Four inches is the residential default for passenger vehicles and patios. RVs, work trucks, equipment and soft clay subgrade push that to five or six inches with heavier reinforcement. The right answer comes from the load and the ground, not a price list.

Do you use rebar or wire mesh?

Tied rebar mats on chairs. Mesh laid on grade and pulled up during the pour rarely ends up where it needs to be, which means it contributes very little once the slab is in service.

Where do control joints go?

Planned before the pour. A common guide is spacing in feet around 2 to 3 times the slab thickness in inches, with panels kept near square and joints aligned to doors, columns and slab edges so they read as intentional.

Can you match my existing concrete?

We can match thickness, joint pattern and finish texture, and dowel into sound existing work. Exact color matching is not realistic - new concrete cures lighter and ages toward the surrounding work over years.

Why does the Sacramento soil matter so much?

Much of the region sits on expansive clay that swells through the wet season and shrinks through the dry one. Slabs built without moisture-conditioned subgrade, real reinforcement and drainage control telegraph that movement within a few seasons.

How long does a typical project take?

Most residential driveways and patios are a multi-day sequence: demolition and haul-off, grading and base, forms and steel, then the pour. The pour itself is usually one working day, followed by the cure period.

When can I walk on and drive on new concrete?

Foot traffic is typically fine after 24-48 hours, passenger vehicles around 7 days, and heavy vehicles closer to 28 days. Weather shifts that window, so we confirm on site rather than quoting a universal number.

Do you pour in summer heat?

Yes, with early-morning starts, evaporation retarder when conditions require it, and immediate curing. We will reschedule rather than place concrete into an extreme heat event that would compromise the surface.

What about rain?

Rain on fresh concrete damages the surface, so we watch the forecast and move placement dates rather than gamble. A slab pushed a few days is better than a permanently weakened finish.

Do I need a permit?

Work in the public right-of-way - sidewalks, curbs, drive approaches - generally requires an encroachment permit. Foundations require plan review and inspection. Simple flatwork inside your property line often does not. We identify which applies before scheduling.

Do you build to ADA requirements?

Yes - accessible parking stalls, access aisles, path-of-travel slopes, curb ramps and detectable warning surfaces built inside the tolerances inspectors actually measure.

Who is responsible for the sidewalk in front of my property?

In most California jurisdictions, including Sacramento, sidewalk maintenance fronting a property generally falls to the adjacent owner, which is why correction notices go to owners. We read the notice before scoping the repair.

For foundations and retaining walls above the permitted height thresholds, yes - stamped structural drawings, followed exactly, with inspection at each hold point.

My concrete is cracked. Does it need replacing?

Often not. Tight hairline cracks with no vertical offset are cosmetic. Cracks with offset, rocking panels or cracks that keep widening point to a subgrade problem that needs addressing before any surface work.

Can you resurface instead of replacing?

On a structurally sound, stable slab, yes - an overlay renews the wear surface for far less disruption. On a slab that is moving or fractured, an overlay will crack in the same places, and we will say so.

How often should decorative concrete be resealed?

It depends on sun exposure and traffic. A shaded walkway goes much longer than a west-facing pool deck. We give an interval specific to your installation rather than a generic figure.

What causes the flaky surface on my old slab?

Surface scaling nearly always traces back to the original placement - too much water in the mix, finishing over bleed water, or no curing. It is a thin compromised layer, and the fix is removing it and bonding a new wear surface.
